Me and the "Hooch" (Chattahoochee River) |
Even though this class hasn’t even ended yet, I have already begun to implement one of the goals I set for myself in my assessment. Just yesterday I met up with a friend and we took a 5 mile walk on a trail near her house, and we plan on meeting again on Monday for more! We’re planning on meeting at least 3 times a week, and the other 4 days I’ll either meet other friends for some physical activity, or come up with an exercise regimen that I can do on my own. I think this has been a great course for me to take at the end of my degree program as I was already thinking of how I can work on improving my health and wellness after I graduated, and the tools this class has given me has made it just that much easier to make it happen. I think the most difficult part is making up my mind that I need a change, and then committing to the plan to make that change happen. That being said, I think I have a great support system of friends who want to help me succeed, and that gives me so much encouragement to push forward!
Sounds great. And I can't even explain the warm and fuzzy I get from thinking about the "Hooch!" One of the best days of my life was inner tubing down that river. When a memory involves emotion you always remember it. And it was an overwhelming day of exhaustion as well as good company and good food and relaxation too. I'll be back in Marietta in October so it just might happen again! Good luck to you and take a "tube" down that "Hooch" sometime!
ReplyDeleteHey Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!!...I am proud of you! Sounds like you had a good time, and just to have someone to walk along with you is a plus. I know for me, it is great to breath in the fresh air, and take those long walks...but at the same time, you feel good, and tired at the same time, but you are doing something healthy for you...For me Kathryn, I love the water...makes you feel so warm inside.. "The HOOCH", just beautiful....I would love to go on a boat ride some day.....keep up the good work!
Hi Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteThat picture is great it reminds me of copper fall in wisconsin which is not far from my house. Having someone to help you meet your goals is the best motivation you could ask for. This class has made me realize that being in touch with nature and my self has improved my confidence, self worth, energy, and the ablility fo help others. Have a great summer and good luck in your future. Hope to see in future classes.
Hi Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you!! It is awesome that you have already taken the plunge and started working towards a healthier you. I agree with you that the hardest part is first admitting that there is something you need to change and the second is actually making the commitment and getting started. I personally find that once I start something it is much easier to continue doing it, but it is so hard to start. I for example have always wanted to try Zumba classes, but was always afraid of going and making a fool of myself. As recent as last week my Mom invited me to a Zumba class with some friends of hers that she works out with at Curves. I knew it was going to be a small group of older women so I went ahead and took the plunge and went to the class with my Mom. Well now I am hooked…I went to Zumba classes three times last week and I plan on going three times this week. The classes are fifty minutes long and I really sweat and feel like I get a great workout. I am so glad I got over my initial fear and took the plunge and went to that first class.
Best of luck to you and keep up the good work! I wish you success and joy in all your future endeavors!!
It is good that you and a friend are meeting up to walk a five mile trail. That will help you relax and become calm and focus. Also, you will feel better after you exercise. By walking, you are making your inner and outer being healthier. This course has helped me realize that I need to help my inner and outter being by exercising, eating right, and just meditating. I am glad that you enjoyed this class because I did too.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeletei do totally agree in your decision because those walks are going to help you to increase your cardiovascular health and also you can be more relax because that open your mind to better quality of time and help you to breath better!
Hi Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteThat's so great you've already started making changes! Like you, I took this course at the end of my degree to help me transition to the next phase in my life, and it sounds as if it's been equally helpful for the both of us. I'm really happy for you it's working out. You have the knowledge, the intention, and are in the process of implementing action, with the support of friends - so it sounds as if you are going to be very successful in seeking the growth/change you were hoping for.
Congratulations on graduating! I wish you all the best of luck, success and happiness as a college graduate. :-)
Deb
Hi Katheryn
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have started to implement something positive, keep on. I also agree with you about making up the mind, but choose an interested or very meaningful target to be your source of motivation. It will speed up your decision, and strenghten your commitment.
I think it is easier to make a plan and say you are going to do it. It takes a lot of effort to actually put those plans into actions and then to continue them.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on graduating!
